SEEKING BEAUTY IN THE WORLD

I once believed that visual arts were simply a means of showcasing beauty to the world. However, I have come to realize that it's about uncovering beauty within the world itself. This process involves observing our surroundings from a unique perspective, recognizing the beauty that exists, and sharing that vision with others. While I don’t intend to ignore the challenges we face, I strive to find light amidst the darkness, whether it be external or internal.

Exploring the Concept of Beauty

When I refer to beauty, I mean the imperfect, raw, and chaotic moments we all experience in our daily lives. The loss, grief, pain, insecurities, and fears all of which can be transformed into resilience. This is a shared beauty that we all encounter.

Consider an artist who creates a stunning floral painting. It is not just a representation of a flower it embodies the journey the artist undertook to express themselves. They paint despite their insecurities or fears and are brave enough to share their story through their lens. The real beauty lies in the narrative behind the art. It reflects the struggles of beginnings and the life challenges faced by the artist, yet they continue to persevere. These courageous individuals find beauty in a sometimes chaotic world.

I believe most of our lives are spent on autopilot. We fall into our routines, filling our days with events and distractions, leaving only brief moments to breathe, rest, create, and explore. Without this space, we forget to look around and observe the world. Carving out time each day allows us to be amazed by the wonders that surround us. It can be as simple as stepping out of your car when picking up your kids and looking up at the trees instead of at your phone, witnessing life unfold around you.

Life never fails to astonish me. Often, it presents us with what we truly need, even if it’s not what we desire. What can you prioritize today in your mind and heart to actively seek beauty in this world?
